Hi all
I am after the measurements of the handbrake linkage rods on the p5b.
The set I have were made for the car but somewhere along the line something went wrong.
The rod from the centre of the car to the axle and the one to the nearside wheel are too long and the one to the off side is too short.
I have measured the lengths, to the centre of the locating screws, on another vehicle but does anyone know the exact measurements?
Centre of car to Axle 34 1/2 inches Axle to nearside 31 1/2inches Axle to offside 18inches.
Many thanks in advance!

Hi Simon.
It is well worth purchasing the workshop manual, and the parts manual for the Rover as they are superb for both illustrations on how things should look and go together ( parts ) and critical dimensions for the whole car ( workshop manual ) they are available from the club too, one of those purchases you won't regret.

As Andy says I recommend getting both the Workshop manual and the Parts Catalogue (the WSM doesn't have a full view of the whole linkage). The linkage is different between P5 and P5B, and is set by reference to the angle of the various pivot levers rather than absolute lengths of the rods.
I found the WSM was somewhat unclear on the exact process, but reading it all several times combined with a bit of common-sense it's possible to get the handbrake working well.

Ok yes I have looked at the manual but is doesn't give any the lengths of the linkages.
Does anyone have them or know what they are....as I explained to rods I have are the wrong length

I can measure the rod lengths at the weekend if nobody has a quicker answer, but the lengths you quote look about right from memory - the one from the centre of the car and the rear left cross bar are similar (ish) lengths.
Have you removed / refitted any of the various pivot or relay levers? Just wondering if one has been refitted the wrong way round or in the wrong holes? For example on my car the mounting point for the arm on the axle has two holes.

They seem OK to me. There needs to be 3/4" in both clevis ends. The set up is in sect 11A and exact lengths is not critical just the compensator angles

The measurements in my original post are ones I took from another car. 2 of the links I have are about an inch longer longer and one is about 2 inches shorter.
I have some more metal on order to remake the shorter one.
It would be good to have those measurements confirmed ( measure twice cut once)
