I'm heavily into WW2 and currently own a little Ford GPW Jeep, but have owned various other 'larger' wartime vehicles too, inc: Dodge WC51/52, 54 & 62's for my sin's...!
I'm currently helping a friend (whilst maintaining social distancing of-course!) to restore a 1941 Bedford QL Command-Truck...its going slowly, but we're making pretty sound progress...I've recently been working on replacing the inner wood panelling in the back, whilst my friend's been rewiring the front-end's electrics...
I also have another friend who own's a 1942 Austin K2 Ambulance (as per Ice Cold in Alex) - she's great fun!..we took her to Buckingham Palace for the Queens 90th birthday commemorations - she got sooooo many looks driving through central London and caused utter-chaos on the drive home, back up the M1!!!
Have you seen the beautifully solid, Ex-Ministry, 1952 OL(BC) that's just ripe for restoration and oh-so original, currently up for sale on both eBay & Milweb?...If I had a bit more space, I'd probably be taking a trip to 'see' it! (If it was an OB Coach, I'd be selling something to make some space - I've always wanted one!)
Keep the pictures of your beastie coming sir...their lovely to see!!!
Ooh a QL, that’s a rare beast nowadays. An OB coach would be fantastic, they’re very strong money these days though. I love Bedfords, always have. I’m lucky in one respect, it doesn’t cost me anything to enjoy running about in that one
Just extracted Pegs from her long slumber, other than shuffling around to get stuff out of the unit she lives in poor old Peggy hasn’t turned a wheel since I took her to Beamish last September. I should maybe take her out for a run some time,
