I really like Sywell. Found it a few years ago as my father in law was evacuated nearby as a child and we thought we'd visit the area, we went to the pistons and props day which ran some drag races including a jet truck. Great fun.
There were three generations of us from 80 down to 10 and we all had a great day - very relaxed.
My car will finally be back on the road by Roverfest and assuming we aren't away I'll do my best to attend as it's a relatively close distance to me. I think I'll try Coventry motofest first as a test run being only 6 miles away!
I’ll be there - it’s literally 10-minutes from my house!
For those that haven’t been before though and to reiterate what’s been said already, Sywell is a great place to visit with lots to see and do, for everyone...along with the most beautiful ’Art Deco’ main entrance and restaurant decorated with wonderful aviation artefacts from years gone by...
What doesn’t get mentioned so often is the airfields WW2 history - it was mainly used to repair/ refit the RAF’s heavy bomber fleet - Lancasters, Wellingtons etc, and many of the original buildings and hangers are still in aviation use today! If like me your interested in WW2, your in for a real treat!
Guys, there is a great classic car show taking place at Bowood House Wiltshire on the 10th May 2020 from 10am onwards.
The organiser is www.classicshows.org formally known as Andrew Greenwood classic car shows who i have been supporting now for over 20 years.
Bowood is a great venue and usually packed so for £4.50 you can now book online via their website and pay via paypal to secure your pass. Its also worth registering with them for news letter and show dates all over the uk.
If any of you do decide to attend i would strongly advise turning up around the 0830am time to avoid the long entry que's.
