Hi all. At long last I've been able to track down one of these boxes at price suitable for rebuild. The torque convertor is missing unfortunately, - can you tell me if a suitable one is easy to obtain?
- Are they compatible across other boxes or cars? Can you help me with some examples?
- The selector cable and speedo cable are present, the support is not. Is there anything else I MUST have?
I'd be grateful for any general advice for the conversion on my P5B. I'd like it to look standard. Thanks Roy

With the number of Land and Range Rover V8 autos languishing in scrapyards, finding a converter shouldn't be difficult. When it comes time for the rebuild have a word with Andy "eightofthem" on here. Come to that he can probably supply you with a converter as well.
PS I think he's done the conversion on a P5B as well.

Yes, talk to Andy.
He helped me overhauling my BW35 including an overhauled converter.

Well I have just picked up the gearbox today. It is from an LDV ambulance. He tells me I need flex plate, spacer and a special bush which he can supply me from a discovery later on. Thanks I will speak to Andy as I would like to get it refurbed and beefed up internally.

I have the starter plate and ring gear, the flexplate, and the spacer that goes between them should you need them.

The guy I got it from said he could get what I need but lets see. Theres going to be a few things. Can the 4hp22 be beefed up with better insides as part of a refurb? Its going to sit behind a 4.6
