Hi,, I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem with my 1969 P5b The off side tail light isn't working (the near side one is ok) but the brake light is ok
I'm getting 1.5v at the connector in the boot next to the battery To my limited knowledge of wiring, this would suggest that if the wiring is ok in the brake light circuit then the problem must be somewhere between the light switch and where the wiring joins the brake circuit Does anyone know where they join up and why is the other tail light working?
As a bit of background, the car has been off the road for a decade and some previous owners appear to have had a sense of humour when it came to repairing electrical faults...
PS Does anyone know if the wiring diagram pdf is still available, and if so where from?

PS Does anyone know if the wiring diagram pdf is still available, and if so where from? The Stop Lights are in parallel green and purple wires and there "should" be only one single bullet connector between where there is a double where they join up! If you are a member the latest diagram is available.

Hi, I am a member and read somewhere that I should email someone for the pdf but I can't find the email address...
There must be a point somewhere that the tail light and brake light wiring joins up but I've no idea where Even the original diagram is a long shot The car has been the victim of some serious bodges from previous owners. The cable leading to the rear repeater is white when leaving the boot at the tail light and black when it arrives at the repeater. God knows what route it takes

I take it that the 4w tail light does not work on the drivers side. I am also going to assume that it has been like this since you bought the car?
Check that the front side lights both work. If the offside front side light is also not working, then the problem is likely to be with the lighting switch which is three position: side lights, off and parking lights. It is very easy to get the wiring of this switch mixed up and have unexpected combinations of lights coming on.

I'm slowly restoring the car after a 10 year hiatus (where real life interrupted) and have only recently started on the electrics. When I started, the only light that worked was the nearside tail/parking lamp! I've replaced the rear o/side bulb holder and the tail light worked briefly before chucking it I'll order a new 3 way switch and cross my fingers Both front sidelights are knackered but they can wait their turn

The lighting wiring in the boot area of my car was a real mess. Here is a photo of my O/S rear as I found it, but it did include towbar connections. But my lights all worked, somehow!

With this car, anything is possible!! I'll have a look at the switch and see what horrors lie behind the instrument panel

No sign of rodents. More like a homo sapiens bodger!

Could be worse, could have been a honey bodger.
Re the switch, it may be fine, just wired incorrectly.

An update...
The switch gas been replaced I'm now getting a voltage at the fuse box but still no power to the rear tail light
The cable leaving the fuse box is braided but it is a different cable when appears in the passenger foot well So, does anyone know where the braided cable stops and the pvc (?) one meet? PS one consolation of replacing the switch is that I now have power at the fuse box for the fog lights
(and the joy of trying to stick the instrument panel back together again!!)

There is a bunch of bullet tucked well inside the n/s A Post - you need to unclip the panel. Water from rust holes, screen seal and craked joints causes corrosion+

The good news... Finally found the problem! There's a faulty connector at the base of the steering column in a really awkward to reach spot The bad news... I've disturbed all manner of problems that are even more difficult to reach Ho hum Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the the metal frame below the parcel shelf to reach all that gubbins?
