Hoping someone can help, when I press the high beam on it cancels out the whole headlight which works fine on dipped beam. Checked fuses cable connections and tested bulb is ok and all seems well, only thing I haven’t checked is the simple relay I put in to protect the cables years back. Any ideas would be appreciated many thanks Sean.

The dipped beam filament goes out when main beam is selected, so I would check the sealed beam unit (or bulb if you have halogens fitted).

Thanks for all your pointers as I have cleaned all the bullet and connectors in the engine bay which has given me back my high beam and non flickering lights in general. Amazing how corroded the bullet connectors can get and only visible when you pull them apart. Thanks again Sean.
