Having finally found a decent knowledgeable mobile welder in Rochester, the 3 passenger side sills are on the car, although it turned out that during her re-commission 20 years ago, outer sills were welded onto the original rotten sills.
I want her back on the road, but I also want her modernised, so does anybody know if a turbo diesel p5b exists? Only I'm toying with the straight 6, 3 litre turbo diesel engine and box from a BMW X5, as it's a heavy car, so that set up will be used to moving 2 tonnes of metal, plus of course a 5 or 6 speed tiptrobic auto box will help.
These are cars after all, and as such should be driven on the road as much as possible.

Sounds like a great project and plan. I hope you manage it well and look forward to reading all about it. Go for it buddy and make it happen as i am sure these days anything can be made to fit anything with some fettling. Make sure you follow it through with a good brake upgrade too and possibly the rear diff may or may not need some tweaks also.
Good luck
