A purist member of the Danish Rover Club is looking for a mechanical fuel pump. They don't seem available anywhere as I presume everybody including myself has switched to electric pumps. The closest I have come are repair parts or kits.
Do you know of any source of mechanical pumps?
Thanks...

When I fitted my electronic fuel pump on the cross member under the car I left the original mechanical one in place, I just removed its insides, so it still looks correct, but is improved !

NOS turn up on Ebay but they are just not up to the job with modern fuels

Thanks.
How about pumps for the precursor Buick 215 engine? There are apparently plenty mechanical fuel pumps for that over in America, but as far as I can see the angles of the inlet and outlets are not right, and the 6.5 PSI pressure is probably too high for the SU's as well. Right?

Jens, Hi, I have repaired and used the original mechanical pump for all my 30 years of ownership. These have performed satisfactorily for me. I may have a useable spare, I'll look later. Let me know if your 'purist member of the Danish Rover Club' would like one. Kind regards
Ray

My car has the mechanical fuel pump which is working fine other than it has an oil leak, I am guessing it may just be the gasket, any ideas?

I kept mine for future refitting if required but blanked off the aperture for now. It starts and runs so much better on electric I don't think I'll ever go back!!

My car has the mechanical fuel pump which is working fine other than it has an oil leak, I am guessing it may just be the gasket, any ideas? This is most likely but I have also seen the pivot bar leaking, the ends of the lever arm can be seen on the pump. You will need to clean it well, whilst on the car then run the car and with a mirror and torch, see where it weeps from. The rear of the two bolts that hold it in place is very difficult to tighten. It should have a slot on the head so a screwdriver can be used to pull it most of the way in. Then a thin-walled socket is needed to tighten it. Always lead with the rear one as you tighten both. And clean the rear bolt threads before you replace the pump, to ensure that bolt 'runs' easily. Cheers Ray
