Hi All, I am new on here but not new to owner P5B's, I have just purchased a 71 Coupe and as usual things are not quite as they appeared, the Tacho wasn't working, I thought this would be an easy fix but it appears that there has been some re-wiring of the vehicle at some time, a new feed has been installed to the coil, this has effectively bypassed the Tacho. I am trying to identify which terminal is which on the back of it (pic uploaded), the spade terminal connector (2) has a 12v feed to it (switched on with the ignition), I think that the female round terminal (1) should be the feed to the coil (my car has no ballast) and the male round terminal (3) should have a 12v feed (maybe looped from the spade terminal), can anyone confirm my theory? Many thanks, I am sure there will be many more questions as I get into this one! Attachments:

The Male and Female bullet connectors are a pickup loop and from memory the female bullet connector is to the coil if you take the can off it should be the wire not going to the board! I am happy to be corrected it was a while ago I did mine

Here's a picture of the back of my tach (1966 P5 Coupe). The spade connector gets the power input and gives off the pickup coil wire I believe.

Hi, I’ve just finished running a new wire to the coil on my ‘70 Coupe with the same tacho. The coil is fed from the female bullet connector on the tacho. The wire is white/yellow. A 12v feed from the ignition switch goes to the spade connector and from there to the male bullet connector on the tacho. That wire is white. Hope this is helpful.

Hi Mark, Thanks for the information, I think I understand but to be sure, if you look at the pic I posted the terminals are numbers, 2 is the spade connector (powered from the ignition), 1 would be the feed to the coil and 3 would be powered from the spade connector? Many thanks Richard
