When I got my P5B coupe in December The gear change indicator bezel had a crack across the bottom right corner. On closer inspection the corner had broken off in the past and it had been glued back together. I have now repaired it with a support on the back of the break and filled and painted the front and it looks fine. However, the clip that holds it in place is missing so it waggles around when touched. I've searched the manuals but can't find any details. Maybe the clip is an integral part of the indicator and has broken off. All that I have is a small wedge shaped bit on the underside which has no where to fasten to. Can anyone describe what it should be like and whether I can repair it.

Okay thanks. Although at the moment I can't see how that would attach to my indicator plate. There maybe more missing from the plate than I thought. I willl have a good look tomorrow.

There is a rather fragile attachment point that often breaks off. I have four and only one of those fit to attach the clip.

Mine was same. If you search on here you'll find a member called Cyf took measurements for me of what a good plate looks like. I used this to build mine back up using acrylic sheet and the original spring clip that Andy sent the link for. It works a treat but I find mine still pings out sometimes usually moving to park. Extra play in an ancient linkage doesn't help.
If you get nowhere I can probably dig out a picture of my repaired item.

This is a picture of my gear change indicator plate. I guess the bit sticking out on the back is where the clip attaches. Does it look complete ? and would a new clip from Wadhams fix it ? Attachments:

Looks good - clip goes through that square hole and is secured with a split pin and that's all there is!

Some earlier indicator plates for both shift patterns did not have the spring clip but had a spring loaded ball catch. This was also in the plastic attachment

If anyone has a serviceable one of these, preferably in the later P.R.N.D.2.1 pattern & for less than £8000000 I would be interested. I would take a D2.D1.L type I’m not that fussy as long as it’s not broken on the top or drilled for an alarm LED like mine is. The annoying bit is I know there was at least 2 in amongst my P6 spares but can I find them?

Thanks guys. I'll order one today and hopefully no more wobbly gear change indicator. I may even treat it it to LED bulb.

It's 18 quid when you add the postage ! Ah well, and you can't even see it when it's fitted. I guess some hobbies are expensive.
