Yes.........
Red Line 20/50 or Amsoil 20/50.
There are basically two types of fully synthetic oil, one is based on polyolalfin chemistry, or the much superior polyolester type.
All Redline oils are the superior latter type. This is what I use and can recommend without any reservation. I promise you that you WILL notice a difference in the engine sound, and you WILL see a reduction in oil consumption ( unless your engine is a real minger )
They also do 15/50 and 15/40, but you should not use these in any P5 engine, as they were not designed for it.
You can buy direct from the importer/wholesaler, Delta oils uk, but I always get mine from Demon Tweeks, as you can get it cheaper from them.
Sorry, I dont have the phone numbers offhand

On the subject of engine oil for the V8, I could do with some advice please. I have just changed my cam shaft and followers and noticed the usual black gunge during the strip-down. I have removed what I can but loathe to scrape away all that I see as I'd be worried about the flakes and debris getting in galleries etc where they shouldn't. Can anyone recommend a flushing oil or a specific engine oil, the latter with frequent changes?
Regards to all

You are correct to be concerned about the black gunge as it does flake off and can block oilways.
I ran around 500 miles with a flushing oil suitable for mixing with existing oils and this gently dissolved most of it in an earlier engine. Some have also used diesel 20/50 which is very high detergent for about 1000 miles.
I have always used since a good quality 20/50 or 15/50 changing both filter and oil every 3-4k miles or 18 months whatever and the engines have never showed up the symptoms again

Many thanks Phil. I'll use the flushing oil initially and then some frequent changes with regular oil.
