The mag is not producing a spark, so we’ve popped it off & the current owner is going to strip & clean it & stick it in the oven on a low heat for 45 mins which apparently does them some good. It may need to be remagnetised The dynastart still works, at least as a starter anyway

I love the little details like the bearing caps & also note the wheel nuts are narked D for droit (RH) the ones on the other side are marked G for gauche (LH) nice little touch

Update on the little truck. It now runs & drives & goes rather well when it wants to😆 It was running months ago fitted with Phil’s home made distributor drive & an old mini distributor, but had a serious misfire, which turned out to be a holed piston, caused by a bolt being dropped in one of the spark plug holes many years ago. Phil removed the engine & stripped it, welded a new crown into the piston & reassembled the engine. The 2 white metal main bearings were in very good condition, as were the big ends. The valves were very poor so with some measurements taken some Scania ones were obtained & modified to fit. Phil then ran away to Wales where he was working & a couple of weeks ago asked if I could pop the engine back in for him. His work then dried up & he returned home & finished off the installation. He bought a carburettor for a Fordson E27N & fitted it as the original was in a bad way. Yesterday afternoon was spent driving around a field, fiddling with timing & mixture settings & by the end of the day we had some quite impressive performance out of it.
