Should be a straight swap. What problem do you have?

I changed P5 Mk1 to Powerspark electronic a few years ago Harvey and never had to touch it since. My 1969 P5B coupe has various issues and the distributor cap needs replacing as do the HT leads etc so why Im dealing with them I thought this might be the best time to upgrade this also. On online suppliers seem to default to the later P5s whereas as far as I can tell my present distributor looks different. I think it was originally part 611080. If its not important i prefer an upgraded one but obviously not if it is not compatible. Engine is 84008622 which falls below the number 84017925 in the book.

The dizzies look the same - its only the baseplate that was upgraded and different (cheaper) points used. I doubt if electronic upgrade is being it will make any difference as the problem on the old baseplate was the points dwell set up

Hi Phil that's the point (no pun intended) of fitting an electronic module as the dwell period or time the coil charges is set/fixed electronically. It no longer varies cyl to cyl due to the variables of a mechanically operated points system. So the benefits are smoother idle, consistent spark quality and accurate timing from cyl to cyl. And of course this benefits in an overall smoother running, more efficient engine.
