I am back to square one with my flickering light issue, cleaned the earth points on both inner front wings, installed a refurbished alternator and today a new regulator as the existing is still separate to the alternator. The only clue to those with more knowledge than me may help! When the cars ticking over no flickering is visible but if I hold the revs higher it has a continuous even flicker to all lights including dash lights fronts and rear, cannot see any problems with things like stereo or indicators etc so at a dead end. I would appreciate any ideas that I could check. As always appreciate your replies.

Does the ammeter flicker?
If not then there must be a high resistance connection in the lighting circuit main supply (Brown/Red) from the ammeter terminal/shunt block to the main Console light switch (always a suspect if it gets warm with the headlights on) or in the fuse box.
If the ammeter flickers the problem may lie before the ammeter shunt terminal block and all the way back to the starter solenoid (thick Brown cable)
Have you checked the 6RA Alternator field relay and the 3AW ignition warning light relay including the earths
