Just went to start my 1972 P5B Saloon. There was a click and then no power at all - no ignition lights, no power to lights, heater etc. All fuses look intact (apart from the fog lights that blows every time i put it on). Cant start the car to get it to teh garage.
Not sure where to start here - battery good.
Any thoughts anyone?
Many thanks

Bad battery connections incl earth to chassis leg from battery and subframe to engine at front. Check that main cable on Starter motor is clean & tight,
Use Jump cables to bypass main cables
Are you sure battery is OK?

Many thanks for yoru reply - The battery is ok - a bit of a twist as when I turn on the ignition I am now getting the ignition lights showing - I turn to start it, get a click and then no ignition lights or anything.

How do you know that the battery is OK? What does " a bit of a twist refer to?" Battery leads loose? If so why? Looking at your previous posts I note that you've recently changed the engine mounts with some difficulty it appears. Have you reconnected the main earth/ground cable to the engine block from the frame. The contact points for this cable need to be absolutely 'clean' metal to metal...otherwise there'll be high electrical resistance. Don't assume, guess or wishfully think any electrical connections are sound, unless they've been checked, cleaned and/or tightened.

Thanks for your reply and advice
"A bit of a twist" meant a bit of a twist to the story as originally I had no signs of power at all but when I returned to the car I had ignition lights go on when I turned the ignition on (only to go out again when I tried to start it}.
I will check teh battery again tomorrow and see what output it has along with teh connections.
Many thanks again

That certainly sounds like either a bad battery or bad grounding. I doubt it could be anything else. Let us know.
