A person on another forum is claiming all P5s which were fitted with headrests were fitted with the headrest lights. Can anyone confirm or positively refute this?
This is specifically what he says "front headrests were an option on P5's from new which is when the bracket and wiring were put in and the headrests all had lights. On P6's many had teardrop headrests but an option was the ET style like P5 but without lights. Many people have retro fitted P6 one's without lights into P5's"

Morning,
I think those comments are largely correct, it's always been my understanding that the dealer fitted 'correct' optional headrest for the P5B had reading lights.
However the seats were not all fitted with the mounting bracket and wiring, I bought and fitted headrests (without lights) into my 1968 P5B Coupe many years ago and I had to purchase and fit a bracket, the wiring was certainly not in the seat for any lights.
Cheers
Peter

The publicity material for the MKIII 3-Litres and the P5B stated that the (optional) front-seat headrests had built-in reading lights for rear-seat passengers.

On a related topic, does anyone know where I could obtain a headrest lamp holder?
I already have two headrests but they are not a pair; one has the lamp, the other not. I have reupholstered them along with the rest of the interior so apart from the lack of one lamp they are identical. I would dearly love to acquire another lamp holder to complete things. Yes, I know, I am a cheapskate and could solve the matter by buying another headrest (or more probably two!) which has the lamp.
