This last weekend was Labor Day Weekend in the US, Monday being a nation day to celebrate the Labor movement of many years ago and workers in general. I left work at the end of Friday in my P5 and drove overnight from Bakersfield, California up to eastern Oregon, to visit with a good friend I used to work with at IBM. Car ran great though I did run it out of gas on purpose, after filling a 4 gallon gas can with 4 gallons of gas. Once I coasted to the side of the road, I put in the 4 gallons and drove about 4 miles to the nearest gas station, where I filled the tank with 11.1 gallons of gas. I'm making the assumption that the tank holds 15 gallons of gas now. After that planned stop, I continued on my way and got to my friends house with no problems. The Rover ran flawlessly the entire trip. I spend all day Saturday and up to 11AM Sunday there and then left for Boise, Idaho to visit with a friend from high school and her husband, daughter and grandson for Sunday afternoon and spent the night there. Got up Monday morning at 4AM and drove home. The entire trip, the Rover ran great and got 17 to 20 miles per gallon. I do wish that it had a 20 gallon tank so I could go further between fillups. Due to the variation in mileage, I didn't want to go much over 220 miles between gas stations. I was very happy with the performance of the car and look forward to many other trips over the decades!

Long trips in the Rover, in my case it's a P5B saloon are always a joy. I recently did over 300 miles in mine over 2 days, a trip from West Yorkshire to the Gaydon for the Classic and Vintage lorry show plus a look round The British Motor Museum. It ran very well and returned about 22 mpg. I always jump at any opportunity to take it for a drive, weather permitting. Your trip was undoubtedly much longer than mine and I trust you will do many more in the years to come. Ps like you about 220 to 240 miles between fill ups is also as far as I dare go

My maxim is: every day you want to use it - fill up! All gauges seem to be inaccurate from fuel level to speedo like windscreen wipers in a storm! I use the rev counter for speed levels and my sat nav is also more stable.
