Author: adrian Date: 2/24/2005 7:52 pm EDT I am about to purchase an engine crane could anyone tell me the approximate weight of a 3.0 litre motor complete with borg warner dg fitted?
It states in my manual that it is impossible to remove the transmission without taking engine out. Is this true?

The engine and DG box must be removed together unless you want to butcher the bodywork or you can lift the body from the subframe and roll the subframe out. The combined weight is very heavy and the front of the car will lift by at least 6" when the weight is off so you also need a good lift height. I have a Clarke Long Reach Crane which lifts 1 metric tonne easily on minimum extension but I think you need a minimum of 600lbs dead load to be safe

Rolling the sub-frame out would be my choice if possible.
Glad to see you are still around Phil. You have been conspicuous by your absence. Been away somewhere nice?
