Not bad - good use for a good engine but not many LR owners rated this engine

Unfortunately for some un-known reason Landrover decided to put a de-tuned version in, 96hp I believe in the 2As, loads of low down torque but they should have increased the gearing by 20% to make it a good all rounder and then when the Series 3 came along they de-tuned it even more, I never could figure this one out. When the special vehicles department used to stick the 3ltr in everything they were allowed too, Forward Controls, the 1 ton Lightweight and so on, so when they decided to beef up the Station Wagon for the American market, for reasons only known to them, they stuck the 110 engine in, with it's peak torque at nearly 3000revs basically was a disaster, personally I think they should have binned the 2.25, put a de-tuned 120hp 3ltr in and developed a better naturally asperated straight 6 diesel. Mind you there would have been a few more dead sqaddies if they had that sort of power at hand! ;D
