Anybody know what the rear spring rate is for a P5? I'm having my saggy rears re-tempered and want to stiffen them but don't know what the original rate was as a starting point.
Don't have the manual handy at the moment so if any of the experts out there have the info it would be very helpful.
Also any pro's and cons of Koni vs Spax rear adjustables?
Thanks!
Will

I had my rear springs retempered but they didn't last long so I invested in a JRW replacement set, cost not that much more than retempering. They are beefier than the originals and have lasted about 10 years so far without problem. I tow a caravan and they cope very well. I don't have adjustable shocks, but I should think they would be awkward to adjust on a P5.

They are thicker leaf springs but not as many - don't ask how many as I can't remember and they are wrapped in grease tape. Possibly one less than normal.

I have had spings retempered in the past on other cars - its only worth it if they have not worn - usually grooves wear at the leaf ends which cause clicking and knocking. the actual leaves and straps also suffer metal fatigue and can crack

on closer inspection of mine, I think new is the way to go, the drivers side one is actually bowing the wrong way, which would indicate rather more wear than I first thought!
Car sits nice and low which looks good but not much suspension travel left!
cheers for the advice as always
