I have had to rebuild the BW 35 gear box for my P5B and have come across the following problems:- 1. I don't have an oil tube with a restricted end for the front servo release. How important is this? For example, if the tube is not restricted, will this reduce the oil pressure? 2. Does anyone know the thickness of the gauge block for adjusting the front servo please? Many thanks Dave

I'm not sure what you mean about the pipe.
The size of the gauge block is 1/4".

Many thanks. The diameter of the oil tube is reduced where it presses into the valve body assembly. The reference in my manual is Operation EEE2-8 page 53. I hope this makes this clear. Regards Dave

I see the section you mean now, but that is in my 3.5 litre supplement, in my 3 litre book it just says "re-fit the pipes" no mention of any restriction.
I'll have to have a little refresher course and see what I can come up with.
I have a V8 35 box lying about somewhere, I'll have a look at the pipe in that.

Right then, I've had a look in the 35 box that I've got here and it has the restricted pipe (fitted the wrong way around according to the book incidently) and that came from an early box (FU). As soon as I saw the pipe I recognised the end of it, I just can't remember the reason for it, all I can think is it was only fitted with the early type front servo. I'll make some more enquiries.

Sorry for the delay, but I wanted to be sure before posting. The pipe with the restriction is as I originally thought only fitted on the earliest of gearboxes with the smaller manually adjusted front servo and the P,R,N,D2,D1,L.selector pattern. Most of these have now ended up with the later servo which should have the pipe without the restriction. If you are still in need, I have both types of pipe, and should also have the later type servo.
