First post by new member with a Mk 11C 3 litre auto. Does anyone know whether it is possible to fit Mk 111 seats into a Mk 11 body? The front seats in my car are suffering from rusty/weak springs and offer no support whatever. My back is now killing me after a long weekend in France! I have a parts book and the mountings look very different so any advice would be welcome Chris Powis.

Welcome to the forum - they will fit if you fit the runners/shrouds etc. Try David Green.
Not sure why though - the Mk11 setas are far more comfortable and durable - the foam in the "modern" seats degrades and collapses so even these may need rebuilding

One of these days I'll get the hang of how to use the quote option! I have just bought a Recaro seat in excellent conditon complete with adjustable runners for next to nothing on ebay; all I need to do now is get my local engineering shop to fabricate a mounting frame. I know it's not authentic but my back means more to me than authenticity! Did anyone see the article in the club mag about The Rally Drivers Ball? That's us.

Pre Mk3 seats are longer lasting and more comfortable than later cars as the foam rots - as you say yours has springs which naturally weaken
Short of fitting the rebuilt later seats which will fit with some mods - Ii doubt if much can be done your old ones - you could have the other upholstered to match the Recaro?
Interesting reading about your then in the mag.

Forgot to say that I have fitted the Recaro seat in spite of my engineering company who refused to make a suitable subframe on elfin safety / insurance liability grounds. Demon Tweeks supplied a pair of motor sport FIA approved Sparco mountings, I bought some 8mm x 25 mm steel bar from said engineering company to make adapter brackets, drilled the holes in the correct places and bent it to shape with my blowlamp to anneal the steel prior to bending it and painting it all matt black. When I took the car down to said engineering company to show them what I had done, the GM almost offered me a job saying he had not considered such a simple but rock solid design!!!!
