Hi All, Seems that all my looking skywards this week and praying was for nought as it is just too humid to paint. I had a 15cfm compressor on hire for the weekend that I just rebooked for next weekend instead. I will use the time to go over a few more things to make smoother than before. Am still happy that I havent found one spec of rust apart from on a few of the clips that hold the chrome strips on the side. I have rust converted them after a blat with the wire brush as it was just surface rust. Got the paint made up yesterday and it was interesting to see all the colours that go into white and burgundy (I am going two tone). Oh well, such is life. I ordered some leathrique (I think thats what it is called, or at least it is similar) so will work on the seats and the wood on the inside. Cheers Damian

Seems a sound car - not terribly good weather for spraying, cold damp air will ruin paint finishes. Hope you have a well heated/ventilated dry garage!
If not the best rule is do not spray when there is an R in the month!

In otherwords the same as not eating pork when there is an 'R' in the month. ;D
It's definitely the wrong time of the year for spraying outdoors. The conditions will never be right, if the humidity is down and its dry then it will be too cold. If its warm then the humidity will be too great.
As Phil says doing it now will only ruin your efforts and in the end you will have to spend more money correcting it.

Phil and John,
I think you'll find that Damian is in Sydney; so turn what you've advised upside down....and then add humidity.
Warwick.

Good point - high humidity is not good although the lack of rust mentioned is quite clearly a result of living in warmer saltless climes

Cheers Warwick, it does help though if the Authors location is known and on show, we can answer then accordingly.

He had it as a footnote when he first introduced himself in a different thread. Sydney is a lot more humid than Melbourne but that seems to be changing. We used to have hot dry summers, but not for the last few years. Unfortunately it isn't useful rain; it just raises the humidity.
You'd have to check the forecast carefully before painting outdoors these days.

Hi All, Yes, I am just North of Sydney. Sorry if I didnt make that clear. I am lucky that I do have a garage that is properly insulated and is really just another room in the house. It wasnt as humid as predicted but I didnt want to take chances. I just went over it with a fine tooth comb and got the panels extra flat. I also just got some etch and practiced my spraying on my poor trailer which is about 5 different colours now. Still drove it to the station to park under cover today and it is looking a little naked with bits of primer here and there and no bumpers or chrome. Damian

Hi All, Finally got it all done up. I went for the two tone. A few more tricks on the way but Im happy for the now. The fire brigade red gives it so much more character as I cant stand plain white cars, Rover or not! I will cut and buff it when the paint has finished thinking about what its done in a couple of weeks. If anyone wants to know how I went about it all, let me know. I tried to keep it very simple and stuck the rules. Worked ok. Cheers Damian

I agree the 3 litres look far better in two tone form - as pity it was not so god with the Mk3 and V8's although the Coupes look better with different roof colour with either engine set-up.
