Our 3.5 Coupe has been in regular use now for the past 8 years. I think Lynne must quite like it!. For general running around the gearing is satisfactory but on motorways it really is a bit low. Much as I would like to fit a 4 speed ZF, ala Meastro Stennet, I think it is a bit much for me to tackle. So, is there a higher ratio differential available from Landrover, SD1 etc. If so has anyone put in a replacement diff or axle? It just seems alot easier than fitting a ZF. John Stacey (Bristol)

I know there is a guy in Wellington, NZ, who has put a 4 stage Nissan into his P5B saloon. I'll try and find out a bit more about it.

There is not a higher ratio from Landrover, but you can get them. They are 2.83 to 1. You will have to buy a crownwheel and pinion set, and get your own diff reconditioned and converted.
Remember that the car will probably struggle to pull away with this if loaded and/or starting uphill. Whereas with the four speed ZF it will not. It really is quite easy to do if you can get the parts.
