Hi,
I am thinking of buying a 1973 P5 and approached the AA / RAC about an inspection.
Unfortunately, they don't carry out inspections on cars over 15 years (I think) old.
Any ideas ?
The car may be in the Glasgow area.
Joe

You really need to know waht you are looking for - SEARCH Vanden Plas - these cars can look good on the surface and cost £1000's and still be a total wreck that will be money pit.
An original car is good bet as long as it really is that, second is an aoriginal car that needs work so that you can see how it was bulit an dwhat it needs. The only other one will be a real nut/bolt retoration eg the V-P anything less is likely to be a bad one one whcch you may not find out till its next MOT. Be very wary of obvious filler and especially recent paint overspray and missing sill strips! Bodged cars are easy to spot but also easy to hide it if you do not know where to look. Car mags only give the standard ways of checking which is only a start
If you have set your heart on this one have it re-MOT'd yourself at another garage - perhaps someone local on this forum may know one
