My friend Alan and I have had new steering wheels made for our P5b's. I will write an article with photos for Take 5 magazine. So if I am lucky to have it printed, you will have to read the mag to find out more! If you are not a club member, why not join, then you could find out all about the steering wheels?
Cheers

Have we got to wait till then?
Do you mean made or rebuilt - are they improved/modified?

Hi Phil We have used 'off the shelf' steering wheels but we had to have the boss specially made as the manufacturer had not made any for the P5 before! This was from a leading steering wheel manufacturer. If you would like to see it for real, I'll bring the car along to our next meet at the Appleby if the weather is good! Cheers

Well I think the standard steering wheel is perfectly in-keeping with the dated charm of the car, so when I replace my steering wheel once the weather improves, it will be for the old-stock new replacement one I have.
I'll look forward to reading the article, though. Just as a taster, are they much smaller?
Daniel

The new steeirng wheel is 15" diameter instead of the original 17" dia. Also, thick leather rim which I find very comfortable. I now find the steering when parking for example, requires less arm twirling and it seems to feel quite modern due to the rim not being thin and weedy. Got a bit more clearance between legs and steering wheel although the upper part of the speedo is obscured by the smaller diameter rim but I don't find that to be a problem.

Adrian, I wonder whether or not the Rover P6 sports steering wheel has the same fittings to go on as a direct replacement. Alternatively I think the new Rover 75 wood rimmed wheel would look nice , if modified to fit.
