Very good, i see it was from top gear 1999 when it was still a decent programme, now all they seem to do is handbrake turns on an airfield, i have not watched it for years.

Hello warwick, i do not have equipment or know how to transfer it to dvd but if john wallet or glennr are in derbyshire at any time i can meet them and give them for you. I think there is more on the video i recorded from tv than there is on you tube. think glennr was once looking for p5 book. all the best. ps think phill nottm is close to me.

Hi Charlie,
It would be great if you and Phil could work out something and transfer your old tape to disc. I started doing the same about 12 months ago but encountered some technical difficulties which took awhile to sort out. Then I got busy at work and didn't have time to continue until now. Therefore we could do a swap.
I'll await a reply from you and Phil with eager anticipation.

Hi Phil, i have a video-dvd machine that will dub tape to a dvd, but you would need to post them to me as i live in Bedfordshire, but if these ars commercial tapes you have bought they often have a signal in them that stops you from making a copy.

They are all home recorded on several tapes - the quality would go down even more if I copied them onto a 4 hour tape. We will have to work something out I will see how many there are and postage etc - perhaps a swap at a rally in the fine weather?

Thanks for the information and the pm Warwick, this machine i have will dub video but the disc must be finalised to play on other DVD players, but the book says even then it may not play back on some DVD players, but i have dubbed tapes for friends and they have been OK, but what signal system are you on out in Australia it is PAL in the UK, but as you have sent DVD to members over here they must have been OK.

There speaks the man who endorses "Engine Restore"
I particularly liked "The automatic gearbox is very strong............"

Harvey, if you particularly liked the piece where "The automatic gearbox is very strong............" then that is another endorsement from you, a respected member on this forum. (IMO) The BW35 seems to be an excellent gearbox. Mine is still there after 40 years. Surely that shows what an excellent gearbox it is/was?

It is indeed PAL, Norvin. We didn't introduce colour TV here until the '70s. The reason being that the government held back while the world sorted out their systems, then chose the best one.
