Richard, Looks as though you are the current record holder. I bought my P5B Coupe srs.I (no AED, inch and a half thicker front seat backs, round gear selector knob, etc.) on 23rd September 1980. Three years later, on 29th June 1983 I bought 'The Wholly Roadworthy' Saloon (to breal for spares for the Coupe). Apart from short interludes to swap engines and gearboxes, the Saloon's been on the road for the past 22years whilst the Coupe has been garaged and off the road for 19 years.

Richard, thats pretty close!! There are probably, even today, one or two p5s around whose original sole owners are not members of clubs and who never go to rallies etc.I also suspect that there are still a few cars owned by elderly 1st owners who have become too old to drive and whose cars sit forgotten in outbuildings and garages. These cars only come to light when the estates of deceased owners are being wound up.It is these cars that dealers such as Hurst Park Autos try to source and my own car came from a similar situation.

I recon b & w would make it look older than it is. Thought the black plastic with silver reg matched the body colour and chromework on the car. Needed doing for a wedding years ago. The old yellow rear plate had 'crazed' and didn't look good. Ed
