After 5 years and more expenditure than I care to think about I finally got my MKII Coupe MOT'd. I still haven't got the car running properly because the carb still needs tuning. I was going to do that this afternoon only to find that the battery was totally flat. Great deatiling - that is where most restorations miss out along with the rear wing sill end finishers. Make sure plenty of cavity wax is inserted inside otherwise condensation will soon rot it out again from inside

It's funny you should mention that Phil, because I remember the welder asking me how the sill ends should be finished off! We did study plenty of pictures but whether he got them right or not I don't know.

I'm assuming that the shots of the original finish of the sill and wing etc are taken form the Queen's P5b?
I'm surprised how rusty it looks. A couple of go's with a wire brush and I don't think there would be much metal left. The underseal is holding it together!

Yes, they are. Jason, the welder, made the same comment about the underside of the car. Still it was good to be able to access the car for reference. The staff at Gaydon were very obliging and allowed us full acess to the car. I wonder how many original unmolested cars there are left to use in this way?
