Very good!
Very particular original owner and certainly paid a lot to get what he wanted

Sorry for the technical hassles, but I'm glad someone figured it out. There's quite a bit more, mostly to do with shipping (to the U.S.), insurance, etc., much of which The Rover Company seems to have arranged--times have changed. For what it's worth, I don't live on anything like the scale he and his wife did back then!
Meanwhile, a guy in New Jersey (U.S.) had a P5 Coupe with the consecutive British registration, and it turned out that his grandfather, too, lived part of the year at the Connaught Hotel. He sent me the plates last year, so I have both sets.

Hello Gordon. I just realized that you are "petergh3" on this forum, and located in Richmond, VA. I'm in Grand Rapids, MI and have been reading your comments about your car. I am somewhat "hit or miss" on checking into this forum, but it is immensely helpful on rebuilding my 1966 P5 3-litre Mk IIC Coupe. I have some pictures posted on Photobucket at s257.photobucket.com/albums/hh221/kennethnelson/and some pictures of my attempts at seat rebuilding to date (still a ways to go to have a presentable, but by no means concours interior) at s257.photobucket.com/albums/hh221/kennethnelson/Rover%20P5%20Coupe%20Seat%20Rebuild/ I'll send you a reply to your email as well. Hi Ken, many thanks for the reply. I am now getting my e mails to you returned as failed. It could be a server problem as I got your first e mail. I have therefore sent you a PM

Hello there US Rover Owners
Mine is a 1965 P5 Mk11c saloon. 60,000 original miles, RHD, two tone grey with red interior. I am originally from the UK and moved to the US in 1995 complete with the Rover. Since then we have lived in Indiana, Western NY state, Massachusetts and now Wisconsin.
The Rover is in running condition but needs a little bit of TLC. Main things to sort out are leaking carb, noisy tappets, and repair of headliner which was torn in a couple of places.

Hi Geraint, I am always on the look out for stories for the Take Five Magazine. P5's are somewhat under represented so any contributions to the magazine will be gratefully received. Please feel free to e mail me if you are interested. glennreeve@aol.com

Hi Gordon, Ken, Geraint, and Dirk,
I've been in contact with all of you over the years, but just now discovered this international section of the forum. I see Dirk regularly as we're "neighbors" in Massachusetts -- only one hour's drive between us.
Hope you all can make it Rove America one of these years -- we had 32 Rovers actively participating this year, and that's not including most of Dirk's collection. We also had numerous long-distance travellers attending without their Rovers.
I can confirm that every 3 litre Mk II sold by Rover North America that I have seen has had the Mk I Rover badges mounted on the front wings ahead of the side trim, and they appear in US market press photos and brochures. Still, Phil's observation that this badge was not on a car used for a road test is interesting too.

Hi Steve; I wanted to make it to Rove America this year but couldn't get the time free. I'd like to make it next year if I can, and even drive the Rover if possible. Do you have a date set yet for it? I'm currently trying to figure out how to fix the wipers which no longer go on after I took the dash apart to varnish the wood panel behind the steering wheel. Interestingly, my 1966 LHD P5 Rover Coupe doesn't have the Mk I Rover badge on the front wing, but it was originally exported to and sold in Germany. So it still has the European wiring allowing the roadside parking lights only to be turned on for street parking. It also has the 4 speed with o/d transmission. I had a LHD parts saloon that had the Rover badge on the wing however. Cheers, Ken
