Hi all,
I'm wondering if this was an option on all models of the 3 Litre, or if it was only on the Mk I?
I've bought a P3 with a bench seat, you see, however I don't know what model it is (bought sight unseen - yep, I be mad!)
Cheers,
C.

Bench front seat was standard on Mk1's & 1a's and optional on Mk2 autos (only) . Recliners were optional extra cost options for Mk1's and Mk1a's Welcome anyway - tell more!

Not quite:- All Mk2 saloons (manual or auto) were available with bench front seats, obviously no Coupe's ever had one, nor did any MK 3. There were also fixed back individual seats available on MK1, M1A and possibly Mk2's.
The workshop manual (number 4661) shows the different types available and how to repair them.

The front benchcould be fitted to Mk2's but the remote manual gearchange made it quite pointless and changing gear with the seat forward virtually impossible . Rover's P5 autos as with most of the time except Mini/1100 had column auto changes so the bench was feasible and I have seen these on Mk2's I doubt whether any new Rover purchaser would have specified a bench over the standard recliners in Mk2's but then again there may have been one - Rover would supply almost anything if someone would pay for it. James Taylor's book also confirms that this bench option was only on autos with Mk2's Mk1's did have fixed individual seat option - The P4 gearchange used in Mk1's and Mk1a's was designed for bench seats and most P4's had them although fixed individuals and recliners were extra cost options
