Thanks Phil.
David Green is sending me an electric pump as he was not too happy with the mechanical one.
I now need to put the old one back on but I have a couple of questions. Is it worth removing the pump arm (it is cracked) as the pump itself does not work. Is there anything I should remove in the pump to aid the flow from the electric one.
Thanks

Remove the arm David! there is no point in leaving it on particularly as it is cracked I removed all the innards on my pump, you don't have to! but if they serve no purpose

Thanks John (and Phil) - I now it may be obvious, but just wanted a bit of 'forum hand holding' UPDATE: Got both a mechanical and electrical fuel pump from the everhelpful David Green. Fitted the mechanical pump lunchtime and watched the splash of petrol as the glass bowl on the fuel filter began to fill. Car started ;D ;D ;D ;D but now needs to be balanced properly
