Hard to see how he wanted more than 2k for that car. I would be looking for 1.5K for my 3.5 P5B Saloonwhich has a rechromed rear bummper, stainless exhaust, front & rear head rests

2K for a solid Mk3 is a good buy It probably is... but the car on offer had no mot or tax and needed work to get it to that state. According to the fella in question, its a good car with lots of potential... however, i think that he's seeing it as a P5B coupe, which is capable of demanding a high price... whereas he was actually selling a P5 coupe... which for some reason is worth a lot less. ;D 3.5 litre V8's are popular and 3 litre straight sixes are not. I blame guy richie..... anyone with me on that score?

Ied preffer the 3 litre. I would have said otherwise before i got one. But the 3 litre is such a beautiful engine, and its rover which the V8 is not. 'B' for Buick remember! They'er silky smooth aswell. I think the P5B is just worth more because of its rostyles and 4 lights, which, frankly... is gay. All that sparkly, overstatedness is so un-rover! Quite frankly David your talking B@@@@@@s Big Kev.

Well I entirely agree with David and always have but may have phrased it differently but then teh same comment applies to the response.
Both are P5's but behave quite differently - it depends what you want and like

P5B junkies... especially the Coupe variety are all Gay Richie... i mean, Guy Richie fans, as they are over rated spud mobiles. The build quality went downhill faster than a sommerset cheese chaser from 1967 onwards, as a few quid saved on each car meant big savings for the rover group... and this is why the superior steel used for the P5's is less likely to rot, and flake away with the rusties. Also, you can comfortably cruise at 100 MPH in a 3 litre P5, without screaming the B@@@@@@s out of them. And the engines do run significantly quieter than those cumbersome V8 septic jobbies. Twin headlisghts ain't a must in anyones book... though the ROstyles do make the cars look better, as i don't feel that a car like that should go in a different direction from its wheel hubs when cornering. To conclude..... I would rather be GAY in a P5....... than INSECURE in a P5B. ..................................................................................... i DO HATEFUL THINGS FOR WHICH PEOPLE LOVE ME.... AND LOVEABLE THINGS FOR WHICH THEY HATE ME....... I'M ADMIRED FOR MY DETESTABILITY.

There are merits with both power plants 4 lights or 2 makes no difference, what P's me off is stupid comments posted to create friction without having a sensible discussion The V8 Buick or not was constantly developed by Rover lasted 40 years of production in many forms probably the most used engine in many kinds of road cars / specials and in motor sport. My V8 starts on the button never misses a beat cruses along at the legal speed limits as many other do, I wouldn't say the V8 is better than a straight 6 it was just the evolution of the P5! I have driven both I had a P5 Mk2 a Mk3 coupe a P5b Coupe and another all before 1973 as every day family cars the last one I still have How many of these P5 experts have done a few thousand miles in what they have How can you have a Gay Car

Thank you John and Phil. These are indeed strange comments that say more about the writer than the car? Lets just love the car we love without comments...even a P5 with a Lexus engine as far as I am concerned!
Talking of loving cars I went to a Kaeferfreunden event today in Germany. Hundreds of original and remodelled Beetles (also vans) with their owners, tents, BBQ's. beer, music. Great fun. Everyone impressed by everyone else's car whatever had been done to it. The true character of classic cars and their owners. Gay means happy ...and why not.
