I am just about to blow a hefty amount of cash on new rubbers for my saloon. It is going to be back and front screens, doors, bonnet and boot, plus all handles and lights. Ouch! I have had a look at Wadhams and Scotts and the prices are reasonably comparable, but has anybody had any experience of either/both to give me an idea of who best to go to? Unless I missed them, I didn't see either site selling the small gaiters that fit on the back of the rear lights. Does anyone know if they are available? Finally, can anyone recommend a chrome plater around the South East? I have been searching around the net and www.londonchroming.co.uk appear to be recommended. Has anybody used them? Cheers

You asked: - can anyone recommend a chrome plater
If you are a club member have a look in "Take Five" for your nearest region rep and ask the question. If you are not a member why not join.

Gordon, have a word with Ray about his experience with Chroming When I last looked there was a chrome platers out towards your way (Eastbourne/Hastings). That was about a a year or two ago and I think I checked yellow pages.... Perhaps the best thing you can do is pay them a visit and see the quality for yourself, also stuff is less likely to get lost if you cut out the middle man ?? If you do order your rubbers from DG there are some I could do with, maybe we could combine postage and swap at the Rover meet? Roy Roy

Replaced all rubbers - front and back windscreens, doors, boot and rising glass in doors - from Scotts Au via David Green. All fitted 100% without any trouble.

Hi Gordon We have new improved door seal kits in stock and can show a Coupe fitted with our door seals-the doors shut very well and look very original. These are the nearest door seal to the original and not a 'fit all' seal which the Australians seals are. I know something of these seals as I took over the selling of them from the club nearly 20years ago and imported them myself. Due to the smaller cross sections used they do appear to be easier to fit, the problem is that they make no attempt to copy the complex original seal-and to be fair most owners don't know what they should look like as their old ones have turned to marsh mellows!. To this end we were given courtesy of the late Bill Peeling of the P5 club a set of orginal door seals which we measured and had cross sectioned. Since then they have been improved and compared using a shadowgraph to be the same as OE--except of course they are not joined and have any of the moulded corners. Similarly with our screen seals most of which are made off the original formers. For all UK and european owners, it makes good environmental sense to buy these seals made in the UK, instead of what must be a huge carbon footprint of having them shipped from Malaysia to Australia and then onto the UK-by airfreight and they have some rear fillet pieces included! Hello, from Adelaide, Australia. I have just restored a P5 coupe, and sourced all the rubber seals from Scotts in Melbourne. They all fitted OK, the door seals were tight but when stretched during fitting they went in OK. Scott's can be recommended by me, and he has other than Rover parts as well. Cheers, Geoff.
