Hi all, last weekend I visited a nearby rally in a very rural area. Classic cars were in the minority mostly because of the bad weather. We also did not think of rubber boots. I thought they had poor sandy soil there. It was a very lovely day with the family though. Many attractions like a carussel, pony horse riding, a small acre railway and the possibility to have a scenic flight in a Berlin Air Bridge plane starting from a nearby former Russian airbase were on offer. And the Rover got a lovely plaquette to remember... Side effect was that I had to waterhose all Rover wheel arches and inner fenders finally after 2 years of staying mostly free of dirt. However the wiper motor did work very well. Dont bee fooled by the blue sky. It only lasted half an hour. Perfect timing for the flight anyway. An ugly stretched Vauxhall Carlton was on offer too. English plate included. Those Lanz Bulldogs are interesting machines to hear running, aren't they Mark. They don't have a tachometer; they use an egg timer.
Would you mind e-mailing me the bubble car photo please? My son is facinated by them - and that one has ski racks too !!

My son is facinated by them - and that one has ski racks too !! Hi Warwick, Lanzes are impressive with a single cylinder of 10 Liters. The pictured one was rescued from a barn a few months ago. They quickly just put the engine into work for enjoying the public. The bubble cars were the most succesfull BMWs of the 1950s. One week before that Steam Plow Rural event there was a nationwide summit of the BMW Isetta what it is called. Anyway they are quite common in the classic car scene. 2 years ago my little son was offered a ride which he rejected. He was too shy at the age of only 2. I will look for some photos to send to you. Regards Mark

Thanks Mark,
I got your e-mailed photos, but I've been away for work most of last week and I'm also having problems with my e-mail. I'm trying to move Outlook across to a new computer and nothing is going smoothly.
I'll reply and send you some photos of BMW Isettas and Messerschmidt bubble cars in Melbourne when I've got it sorted out.
Regards, Warwick.

No actual photo: Anyway I am a very careful driver when it comes to dirt, water and other rust promoting issues...
