what with the pitting on mazek chrome, not repairable,or satifactory for rechroming, and absolutely loads out there. what if you could fill the pitting on rear lights/number plate shroud, and rechrome, that would be ideal,..New chroming doesnt last that well, say 7 years, rostyles costs a bomb to get done and have to be split.... well look at this , chromeeffects.co.uk/

This has been out for a while now how good/durable it is I don't know but reading up on it a year or so ago the colour is a bit too Blue to the eye according to a few guys who had had it done apart from that it is a paint of sorts so the result will be only as good as the preparation and it is not a cheap process. There is chroming and GOOD Chroming a subject brought up many times on the forum

john, glad to know someones tried it,i just thought it would be ideal for that troublesome mazek. i will still go ahead and get it done on my back lights, ive had a jrw number plate cover and its excellent for £25,.when i bought the car it came with 6 Pairs of tail lights, all in different states of corrosion, ive two pairs which are like brand new on the top where they seem to go but the sides are completely chromeless... i,ll take some pics when theyre done.,not concours i know but it will certaionally look more in keeping with the paint thats on the car. as regards "good chroming",does that apply to deteriated mazek?

Kev, will be interested to see the finished and painted parts. Am keen to know how much it would cost from chrome effects to paint the parts you mention. Regards, Chris.

Good luck with the project you won't know till you try My tail light surrounds were plated 5 years ago and it wasn't cheap as they needed loads of copper plating and polishing but they are still better than new! I found a NOS boot surround complete with light and I had that re-chromed as 60's chrome was NOT very good

The first think you will need to get a good job done is a reasonable pair of surrounds by that I mean small pitting not craters and any plater will shy away from deep pitting as they know they would need so much copper plating and polishing! the heat from the polishing can distort the Mazek and they will be ruined! "will not fit correctly". Drop me a email and I will give you the details the guy I use has so much work he is reluctant to take on more "BUT" I can have a word with him

thanks john ,ive been reading up on wahdams chrome regarding all and that looks like value for money, not bumpers just the other bits.. UPDATE ,had a good chat with the chrome painters ,they said if the effect isnt true chrome appearence, orr bluey etc,its due to the de ironised water proceedure not done correctly... anyway after a few weeks wait, ive been priced up by themwww.chromeffects.co.uk price one >14x plastic number plate letters £95 price two> number plate light plinth £75 price three> reverse light cover £30 price four> rear light surrounds £85 Bare in mind these prices exclude in prepartion things like rust and blisters etc...
