Sorry all, But I don't think this site flows as well as the old one. It seems too fragmented. I know the idea is to make thing more relevent but to me it seems very "bitty" .. I don't see the the names that I know. Alan of MH, John of Weymouth (Pug going now have R75 John) Alan J and all. Maybe I'm just an old computer literate f**t. If you have later Rovers check out this site: www.mg-rover.org/Rgds to all

I personally think this site works very well. I remember how strange it was changing over to this site compared to the other site, but after a few postings I found myself getting used to getting around the board. The real plus is we can post photo's and sometimes these can help show/describe a problem. The category list seems to work for me too. I can understand though that some, prefer the old site and some prefer this one. That was always going to happen.GlennR

I agree with you Darryl you are an old f**t, however you have redeemed yourself a bit now you have got rid of the the 'Frogmobile' I am still here though, (John...Weymouth) I have only changed my I.D. It wasn't changed to throw you off my scent. This site does flow better than the previous one, and at least you can find information better if and when you need it. I think the majority are now in favour having tried it for a while. Good luck with the 75.

I agree that this site is a vast improvement on the previous one, but I still think there is room for improvement.
Although I appreciate the idea, I think it is wrong to separate out the cars into two sections, ie P5 & P5B. There are so many components common to both and I find myself faffing about between the two sections.
They need to be amalgamated with say the engines, gearbox and possiibly bodytrim separate.
Still POSITIVE about the site though!

While I agree some parts are common, we don't want to get back to the problem we had with the old site. Messages were posted without ref to what type of P5 it was, so the replies could not be given. It was requested that in future could the query be identified to either P5 or P5B. That was fine while you remembered, but a lot of subscribers didn't and we were back to square one. Luckily this site separates them which makes it much easier. If you are new to the site then there is a lot to go through, however once done you only have to enter any of the red envelopes to get to the latest postings.

So that means John, that I have to look through all the P5B posts to see if there is anything relevant. It isn't efficient. Apart from the engines & gearboxes and minor body differences everything else is the same, so why not amalgamate. We would have a separate section for straight six engines, V8 engines, manual gearboxes, DG gearboxes and BW35 gearboxes - where would be the confusion?
Why should members have to look in TWO sections for the same thing?

As I said before, all you have to do when entering the new site is look for any RED envelopes, then go into see what's new to read. It only takes a couple of minutes to do that. I'ts so easy. If you find there are no RED envelopes, (usually on a Friday night) then there is nothing to look at. Alternatively, when you first enter the site, go to the bottom, and you can read the last ten postings. Obviously I'm biased now as I've got used to the new site, having used it since last June /July. I take your points though, but I think with use, you'll find it much easier and quicker. Even with the split categories. Most of the postings seem to be on the P5B site anyway.

Is that because most members cars are P5B's - are we allowed to know numbers of straight sixes - it would be interesting. Perhaps as the sixes are the rarer models they may one day become more sought after than the V8's

There must be fewer straight sixes around than V8s. Remember last years National, how many were there? I recall that V8s outnumbered them by at least twenty to one. At any Rover rally there are always plenty of V8s and very few 3litres.

You are absolutely right John, so that cements the argument. If there are so few of us with straight sixes why have separate sections for electrical, bodywork etc. AMALGAMATE!! Just keep the engines, gearboxes etc separate! I had always thought these V8s would never catch on! How wrong can a man be?
And why do I never see a P5 on the road from one year to the next? Time precludes me attending rallies, though I have been to a National, but it would seem that is the only place to see another P5 these days. Don't members use their cars as cars, or just as a hobby? They are just too good not to use daily in my opinion.

I like the new site very much but it did change at the same time as I went broadband so the traffic is pretty quick now anyway. I particularly like the image upload and there have been some really good photos on there. Interesting point about the lack of P5s on the road.I rarely use mine for various reasons but I cannot remember the last time I saw one on the road in the Westcountry. I think this is due to the fact that 1)The few roadworthy ones are being restored on an almost continuous basis 2) It is always raining down here 3) The running costs are high 4) There are simply not many left in a roadworthy condition. Having said that, there are plenty of classic cars in Devon and Cornwall and you don't see many outside the rallies. Richard

I think ther are less 6's than there are Colonial Upstart powered P5's. At the RSR 100 yr bash thingy we REAL ROVERS (that should get some people going Ho Ho) were in the minority. In fact I had the best/worst, most original/ most un-original most wanted/most unwanted Mk3 there. (Yup I was the only one). Check classic car mag articles .. it's nearly all V*. In 100 yrs time 6's will be priceless. Now where did I put that engine? Rgds to all

Richard, you'll have to move over one county east. Dorset is the place you'll see classic cars virtually everyday somewhere on the road. Especially on the A35/A31 between Honiton and Wimborne. The A37/A303 also sees it's share of the classics. The other day I came back from a Recovery to find a red Ford Consul 315 Capri complete with roof rack and ladders coming towards me in Wool. There's also a yellow Triumph 1300 complete with ladders and bucket used by a window cleaner daily. Moggie pickups with canvas covers are also in plentiful supply, especially out in the sticks.
