the bulkhead, fuse box ,blower housing soundproofing ,whats the best way to getting them looking fresh.they are physically clean. inner wings and subframe.these were factory fresh looking not so long ago,ive washed down but dont glem how they used to. i have waxed once but so fiddly in bits, even with wifes toothbrush. is there a wash additive that gives a wet look finish WITHOUT having to buff off..? "i want to do my back axle too, thats finished in hammerite gloss" a silicon spray perhaps? ?

Used car dealers use some sort of silicone spray but it leaves an oily sort of feel on everything and I suspect that it will catch and hold dust.
They only need it to look good sitting it the yard. What happens once you drive out the gate doesn't matter to them.

I think that good old WD40 is used by some, spray on and wipe off.

Not sure if this is the sort of thing you are thinking about; I have seen a product called Demon Shine (was on offer in Morrisons when I saw it), supposedly mix with water and wash, as with shampoo, dries to leave a just-waxed look finish. I've no idea whether it works or not as I didn't buy any. Link here for info. www.vwt4forum.co.uk/archive/index.php/t-88255.htmlHas mixed reviews, but might be worth a try.

I reckon the hotrod guys would know. It's all about appearance to them and many have the engine exposed.

Paint brush cleaner. It works better than Gunk and almost any other degreaser.
Apply, agitate with brush, leave for 10-15 minutes. Wash off with hot soapy water. rinse with clean water. Job done.
For silicone spray try Tescos Tyre & Bumper shine 99p-£1.99 depending on instore offers

Your method leaves no unsightly tape residue.
Looks great by the way.
