Any fancy this delightful wooden lodge in the woods of New Hampshire. No garage but a more than adequate 'basement' ;D www.scoutingny.com/?p=4765

Fun but chilling!! What do they look like thes days?!
Beneath every country lodge...a silo?
Have just rented a barn conversion in the Dales so am now searching feverishly for hidden doors.

An old friend's family home in St. Margaret's Bay (Dover) is an ex Ministry of Defence facility like that. Not for missiles but a command and communcations centre. They opened up a bricked-up wall years ago and found the stripped out rooms and tunnels running down through the cliffs.
The story goes that it was never used. It was during the cold war and when it was completed, the Russians sent the British Government a message of congratulations. So it turned out to be a waste of time.
I believe some of these sites are now being opened up to the public.

The Swiss also have these bunker country lodges. I suppose they were not intended for missiles, however. Mark
