Actually shouldn't say that. Just so many things to order and replace - finding lots of perished seals and rubbers. If anyone can tell me the specific Bailey Channel material I should get I would be most grateful - not listed in the parts book as to type (found many to choose from in catalogues and want to get the right fit). Haven't shown the interior as a bit embarrassing. In two minds now about the roof being Dover White - Thoughts anyone? Plan is to have the whoile lot done in 12 months..... (yeah right).
Rear shot next. Just noticed I cant load multiple!

Very nice Paris.
I was about to say go ahead with the white roof as coupes always look better with a contrasting roof colour. Then I opened the image and I'm not so sure anymore.
Have you spoken to Scott about the channel?

Nice Mk 3 Parispp, you live quite close by..I'm in East Bentleigh and also have a Mk 3...just a bit modified. Just wondering, where did you source the headlights? Vince

Wow Vince - East Bentleigh. Must be close to Centre Road. We are just off Dendy Park. You might have seen the car a bit - its been a daily use for years. As for the lights - I believe they are actually the original. There was a second older P5 sold some years back and some parts hanging around from that but I think these are the original.
Warwick I was going to go to Scott's to get all the seals (windshield is bad and leaks in wet weather and doors shambolic with lots of wind noise) but my mechanic said the British versions were better as they are the correct size in terms of thickness - the ones from Scott he thinks are a little thicker (although same shape) so they can create issues with doors etc. I emailed Wadhams and got a quote for every seal and gasket (including clamps/clips) on the exterior including the channels and draught strips (and some mirrors). So I hope to order the lot next week.
Big Andy I will get around to interior shots - will be great to see before and after. Yes - the two tone roof I keep going back and forth - might do some dummy shots on the computer and see what it looks like....

Bentleigh, Brighton, I am in Ormond with a very nice p5b coupe recently restored. I got the bailey channel and door rubbers from Scott. No complaints apart from being a bit of a pain to install but after the 3rd door I got good at it. They seem to seal well and the doors have no problems shutting. I only joined the group today so I will post some shots of the car.

Ken, click on the link below and have a read. voices.yahoo.com/how-post-images-internet-message-boards-forums-295368.htmlIt seems complex but its really quite simple once you've worked it out. Basically you need somewhere to post a picture...either on your server space or something like www.photobucket.com Once you post your picture there (by uploading it) you simple copy the link in the address bar and post it between the 'insert image' tags that appear in the tool bar in 'Post Reply'.

WOW! Ken that looks amazing! Hell I cannot believe you are that close as well as Vince and I haven't seen this one around. I went and saw Scott the other day - we seem sorted about what we he can get and some things he cannot - found another guy in UK called Pierre (Rover part of London) who might be able to source some of the others and Scott said he was good.
Now I see the aspiring standard..... so much work....

Andy,I am in Ormond, the top photo shows the car with dark brown carpets which I always thought was a bad choice. In Feb last year we were flooded and the car was waist deep in water so now the carpets are fawn purchased from Wadhams, looks much better. The paint was done earlier this year to the original Zircon Blue with Silver Birch roof. Bought window rubbers and door rubbers and door handle gaskets from Scott, also bits and pieces from Ebay. Parispp, what stage are you at with your car?

Very nice car Ken. You obviously figured the 'posting pics' thing out. I think you win the 'paint contest' hands down. ~ Vince

Hi Ken- Infancy at this point (calling it 'planning') - have found a place to do the bare metal respray down the track. But have just been collecting all the rubber seals (my god the condition of some of them is like powder!) as the car leaks in heavy rain and the inside is very ordinary as a result. I see minimal rust thankfully as it was and is well garaged (that I know of anyway). Already have new under bonnet blanket and under bonnet lights to go in after the paint work. Ordered replacement washer jet (from Rover Part) and some fixings.
Firstly getting the front end done in August while away on holidays. Have gotten all the new bushes and the ball joints - some other fiddly bits like brake hoses. I find the fuse 'box' interesting. I see on yours you have a plastic strip but the wires are still 'out'. I am used to a fuse box being a box but it seems its more like a panel than a box unless I am missing something. (?)
Collecting all the seals, draught strips, and bailey channels (and parts re-chromed) so when the respray is done they will refit all the new seals straight away and then the interior can get started. So exterior is first then interior - so like I said planning, collecting, and preparing!
Finding out more about the car in deeper dives in old paperwork - car was bought for $300 without an engine in 1987 - engine added later - however the serial numbers are of the same ilk so I had thought it was all original. Hilarious ET headrest - one with light (and broken button) - the other no light but button works - couldn't have it all on one - oh no too easy. Anyway - learning as I go.... the new catalogues and workshop books have been invaluable (and this forum)
If I can get the interior and exterior looking as good as yours I would be a happy man
Cheers for now
Paris

You're not too far from Scott then. His brother Mark is in South Oakleigh, and he wrecks P5s and P6s. There are some very good old threads covering replacing door seals. Lots of photos and useful advice. Try the search function or ask Mark in Germany ( roverp5.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=viewprofile&user=eisdielenbiker ) for a link to his thread. His is the only one that immediately springs to mind. Very nice car Ken.
