Thanks for the comments cyf Just saw your question after a few day's away. Here in Australia the sun plays havoc with plastic, especially plastic in cars. If not looked after, within only a few years, plastic dash tops dry out, shrink fade and crack, and look really ugly. Even new vehicles suffer from this. What I have is a dashboard protector to keep the sun off. They are very common here, and many are made commercially for most popular models. This photo shows the left-hand side, where the cover curves over and around the air vent. This gives a better overall picture of the dashboard protector. In this instance, there were none available "off the shelf" so this one was made as a one-off by the upholsterer. It goes right across the top of the dashboard from left to right. Hopefully it will do the job. Pink roof trim from reflected red colour off the seats. Photo taken today, the first day of spring, and its warm and sunny already! Just in case anyone asks, the white rectangular card to the left of the instrument cluster is my mph - kph converter chart. Saves me from speeding fines, but really, speeding fines and Rover P5 Mk3's is a bit of an oxymoron ;D Cheers, Geoff.

Thank you for the answer, Geoff. I never saw a thing like it. It's the kind of accesory we don't need that much up above
For the conversion miles/km per hour, my speedometer has the two scales, and I thought it was the same for all P5 Nevertheless, we were caught by a speed camera with the P5 this afternoon.....

Geoff, That's a beautiful car, looking at yours is helping me get motivated.... Where did you find the hourmeter? That's an excellent idea... Trevor Trevor, you can get very cheap and clever hourmeters from China on eBay. They cost about $10 here, posted from China. A friend has just fitted one to a veteran car. They can be set to function as a hourmeter or digital tacho. They're battery operated (internal) and can even be used on lawnmowers. They have a long piece of thin wire attached to them and all you do is wrap that a few times around a spark-plug lead.

Hello all This story started a few weeks ago when myself and the wife both a had the same off work and Sue wanted to go out for the day. This then leads to usual discussion of where to go and what car to take. The day previous I was on the site looking again at Geoff's beautiful 3 litre coupe ( You guys only get to see photos of it, us locals see it live and it is one exceptionally nice looking coupe ) and had an idea for somewhere to go. I will follow Geoff's tyre tracks and see if I can locate the the place where he took his photos. So armed with a couple of prints of Geoff's 3 litre and with Sue given the task of locating the photo site we headed up Montacute Road into the Adelaide Hills. Coupe cleaned and fuelled all ready to depart. After a pleasant drive through the hills came to this location which matched where Geoff took his photos, You can just see the remains, between the two small trees, of the Governors residence at Marble Hill which was destroyed in a bush fire in the 1950's if I am correct. Then onto the Scouts grounds at Woodhouse ( Later my adult daughter saw these photos and mention that many years ago she went there for a school camp and I had taken her there, naturally I have no such memory of it) While taking these photos I heard a noise behind me and did not think any thing about until Sue said turn and as did I notice one of the locals had climbed down from the tree and was casually strolling past, but was good enough to stop to have it's photo taken. So after photographic duties completed we continued on for day end up a town on the River Murray called Murray Bridge for lunch and then returned home via different route. Quite an enjoyable day. regards to all Chris

You clearly have too much time on your hands, Chris. Nice bit of image sleuthing though.
How's that Targa Florio going?
