Whilst looking at the for sale sections on't tinternet I see a lot of P5's and 5B's with the leading edge of the bonnet slightly proud of the front grill? It looks as though they are not lined up correctly yet there are many like this? Is this normal (trick of the light) or just poor panel fit or Grill fit? I am guessing you have bonnet bumpstops that are adjustable? Not a big deal just spoils the look - unless of course this is standard Rover factory quality fitment!

Stan, Rover quality whenthe P5 was produced was high. admittedly it deteriorated towards the end but was still high compared to later models.
Are you referring to alignment vertically or horizontally i.e. overhang past the grille or not lining up with the top of the wings/grille i.e. leaving a vertical gap.?

Hi - sorry I meant alignment at the front leading edge of the bonnet against the top of the Grill when looking at the car from the front. Basically a dark shadow (or gap) above the grill?
I am guessing its just past owner line up or lack of lining up - just makes me wonder what the rest of the car is like and how poor a job someone might have done elsewhere if they cant be bothered doing something like that?
Or is does the bonnet front edge have a deep overhang that just catches the light funny?

The gaps on them was never great even from new but it isn't helped if panels have been changed in its life and not fitted correctly. I'm restoring a P5B coupe which I have managed to get all the gaps to the size of a pound coin, not as Rover did it but looks so much better
