Nice one George- coincidentally we stayed in a nice cottage in Findhorn Bay about 2 weeks ago and drove down those very roads on our days out! Wish I could have seen your car on our travels. 22mpg sounds good to me ( ahem well its a plus point for my sales pitch to justify owning one with my other half!!)

A very picturesque journey. It looks like a really enjoyable trip. I imagine that small yellow building is a phone booth(?) and not rest station!

Well done George I should think some of those roads are very isolated. Any chance of something for Take Five?? Congratulations on the best in class/show at the National too

Glenn some of those roads especially through the Cairngorns will really test your brakes! Are P5 brakes good on the whole? George did you go to Lecht and over that hump backed bridge (bridge if death?!!!) at the bottom? Enigmas - those boxs are the new cost effective Travel lodge Hotels we have in the UK .

Beautiful pics,i can see a calander in the making.. It,s lovely up that way,i remember going through the Cairngorms in a Sherpa TV detector van,in the mid 90s,not the same as a coupe though. By the way in the top picture,is it the light ?or is it my eyes?your headlamps look like theyve Angle eye rings.... We are taking the coupe from Essex to Switzerland,(and back hopefully)mid next year. Why switzerland, son wants to see the swiss.italian alp routes,as in italian job....I have told him theyve moved the coach by now... I guess the views will be very much simular to yours there. I cant remember the last time i saw a AA box,i wonder if they still use the same locks as the keys they used to give out.....

Thanks for the comments, I have sent an article to the editor about my trip which I really enjoyed, even with the weather - and no Roy, she only goes north never south ! Some of the roads are very remote and I had a couple of scary moments on a single track A road and nearly ran out of petrol. It really pays to fill up at just under half. I missed the Lecht and that bridge, as the road was closed for repairs at Strathdon. The old AA Box has lots of local information inside, although the telephone no longer works. And, yes they are Angel Eyes (LED running lights) around the headlamps (from ebay) as a motorcyclist I am paranoid about not being seen, which is also why I keep the reflective number plates and have a high level brake light .
