I keep harping on about using classics daily which I have most of my driving life but no matter how well you maintain the little swines eventually do break down!! On top of everything that's happend recently with mum's accident , I walk back to the hospital car park late last night and nothing it won't start!! Some colloquial English later I am under the van checking wiring, then I wack the starter as is industry standard, check ignition switch cabling nothing looks out of place? Engine will turn by hand. Now it starts to rain! I try to jump it from my leisure battery but nothing again? In fact battery power is fine. I call my mate to come down. After 20 mins he arrives. We try a jump start from his car but nothing so he pushes me and I slip the clutch in second - fires up no problem. I get home and switch off , dead again. Today I do other checks but think the starter is at fault(put a new starter solenoid on last year so not that) anyway removed the starter, ordered one for Monday so hopefully that will sort it. I love my van/classics they take my mind off the bad stuff life throws up at you so to have it beached is quite sad for me. Missing it already silly isn't it after all its just a heap of metal. Trip to hospital tonight in my modern car, uneventful, good heating, comfy, quiet even had fuel left in it but as much as I like it - it has no soul or character that the van has in buckets.
