NEC CLASSIC CAR SHOW 16th -18th November
The club will as always , have a stand at the Classic Motor Show in November , but this year it will have a complete makeover.
Our display boards and pull up banners together with two cars (the 3 litre convertible by Panelcraft and a 3 litre saloon, which will be appearing in an TV episode of 'Endeavor, a prequel to the Morse series) will complete an eye opening stand of which the club can be proud.
This years show looks like being the biggest ever with eleven of the NEC halls being fully used for display or feature areas. We will be in Hall 7 together with all the other Rover derivative stands, so there will be plenty to look at. We look forward to seeing you there.
CLUB MEMBERS can obtain a club discount on tickets - see page 20 of the October issue of Take Five for the discount code.

Was there yesterday and the stand looked great and was well manned. Had some interesting chats. CMS was a real experience and much larger and better than anything I had seen in NL. Couldn't get a glass of wine but thoroughly enjoyed coffee and ciabatta with smoked mozarella and plum tomato. Well worth the return trip from Leeds and 35 pound entrance and parking fees.

Posted this one for George of P5s at the NEC I popped up to the show on Sunday & thought the whole show including the motorbike show was very good.On alot of the other car stands they really pushed the boat out & made the whole affair quite colourful & inviting. (here we go)...i thought our stand wasn't......well.....it just didn't seem "bright" enough. It's hard to say what was wrong but based on other years & the original posters & information, this years stand just didn't appeal to me Don't get me wrong, i know a hell of alot of work goes into these events, because ive done it myself & i have to say a big well done for us even being there, what with the costs, volunteers etc. Just my views......controversial as always Big Kev.

Having done it last year Kev the hall is a very dismal one poor lighting and black floors add to the totally dull experience to some of the other brightly lit halls. The stand cost is the other consideration I am sure if you were in the Jag or Rolls hall the cost would be extortionate I am sure, but I must agree with you a bit of lighting plus some visual stimulation such as a loop video screen showing the various video clips that are available would do no harm

It's easy to compare (unfavourably) with other makes that have more cars in circulation and the ultimate effect is obviously a mix of creativity and money...the latters influence being massive. Yesterday's gone and perhaps it would be more relevant to compare with today's examples. I did enjoy the Stag stand which presumably also has a small owner base? Was indeed better lit and with a "reception desk". Let it be clear that the three gentlemen on the P5 stand were very welcoming and full of information.

Wearing my Take Five Editors hat!
Anyone have some photos of the NEC. Not necessarily the Rover P5 stand, but general shots. I am trying to get across the number of people there as part of the article on the next club magazine.

Hi Peter CMS is a system used in Fords to computer control the lighting, I am sure you have an other meaning but why it is better than anything you have seen in North London beats me. ;D

Yep, but Admin did not use just letters. Looks like some people liked the stand and some did not. Perhaps we could do with suggestions on how to improve it if they feel it needs improving for next year. Diana & I have had some input from from members who attended and have contacted us for regalia & parts.

I had a head start when I left hall 7 looking for a beer. My wrist got stamped CMS in large black runny indelible ink. Thought it might mean Carlsberg or something similar but unfortunately that was not the case. Did help me get back in though.

I like the idea of a a TV with a loop of You Tube stuff, could include a spot the P5 in a banger race, win a membership form. Any more ideas from Peter who was at the show besides the reception desk on the Stag stand? I like that. Just remembered Peter, CMS. Computer Monitoring System.

Very tricky one, whilst i did not attend this years show, the idea of showing the rare panelcraft car seems like a plus and a minus. On one hand you have a one off car that is rarely seen, and on the other hand you have a car that the masses will never be able to own.

I was full of admiration for everyone who supplied the cars and manned the P5 stand. The amount of queuing to get in and out and having to stay up there would put most people off. Looking at other comments, they were both lovely cars but dark in colour and the stand was not in the best location - how about some bright carpet ? I think that the Stag Owners Club (of which I am a member) has more members and most of the cars are in vibrant colours. Due to their poor build quality there are many cars that have had nut and bolt rebuilds and so they are able to display 'better than new' examples for people to ooo and ahhh over ! No doubt the conversations with the public would be different, on the Rover stand it would be 'my dad/granddad/bank manager had one of these. On the Stag stand it would be ' my hairdresser had one of these' !!
