I have 1973 p5b and am in process of refurbishing. Gas seems a great idea. I am sure there have been threads on lpg - can anyone help Martyn (Devon)

Gas IS a great idea, but only if you do a LOT of miles.
If not the cost saving and extra complexity is not worthwhile. The cost of a properly done conversion buys a LOT of petrol.
I have owned two vehicles that ran on LPG, and its not as economical as some will make out. Especially if it develops a fault, as that can be expensive. As a result, I am not fussed about owning another, and I would certainly not pay to have a vehicle converted, although obviously if it was already there I would use it !
Realistically you can only expect to save around 30% over petrol.
I also suspect that it will not be too long before our wonderful government ramp up the tax on it, despite any promises.

I have my P5b coupe 1972 converted to gas. In our country (Holland) the petrol costs 3 times as much and I calculated that I earned the money for the conversion back within 6000 km ( 3750 miles). I have to say that I found a gas mechanic who is specialized in converting classic cars to gas and does a great job for the amazingly low price of 995 euro (including VAT and new registration etc.) This is about 665 pounds. I have a complete new gas-installation with a 80 litre tank. The guarantee for foulds and free repair is 2 years. They however told me that the P5b with the 8 cylinder American based engine is very appropriate for converting to gas, the 3 litre 6 cylinder engine can give problems on gas. The engine runs absolutely beautiful on gas and even makes a more beautiful (American) noise on gas. I also did put on electronic ignition because that works better together with the gas (they told me).

Conversions are feasible and a number have been done - try a Land rover dealer. DIY kits must be certifod as safe for insurance purposes.
Do not forget that dutyon LPG is rising so more miles have to be done to recoup the cost
