Hello Andy, I have modified the sub frame for adapting the ZF4HP22. If you want i can measure dimensions you want. I had the Zf box fitted to the engine and then in the car for having the right angle. here some picture how i did the modifications I used a few original parts althought some were modified. Its not fitted to the car yet so its rather easy to take dimensions Regards Peter

Great pics. How was it for space in the tunnel? The ZF4 looks to be somewhat larger than the BW35 through the back section?

No problems with space in the tunnel. I don't know what type of 4Zf box you have. If it is an Ldv box with the non electronic speedo, you need to buy a new speedo cable as the ldv type is to rigid to make the curve from the box connection Peter

Looks lovely. I have the Discovery box, will have the Jag tailshaft. Will see what's involved for speedo. If necessary I'll look at electronic hybrid setup, but I think it will have a mechanical speedo drive.

so does the discovery zf box fit? If so what year? I understood it was too big so people put a jag or bmw zf in? Any info greatly received as im looking at doing this mod on my p5b.
Cheers

Peter has covered this topic well and there are several posts re fitting the ZF box. Just search the pages in the V8 section.
The Jag XJ40 6 cyl box can also be fitted but will require the Rover bellhousing. It also has the short tail cone (which can be adapted) but the Jag runs an electronic speed sensor from the differential.
