I have taken the heater matrix out and cleaned it. Lubed all the linkages and spindles. It still wont heat the car properly even on a long run. Any ideas?

Is the matrix getting hot ie the valve is fully open so as to let hot water in?
The linkages have to be adjusted spot on as its an cold/hot air blend affair.
Richard Stennet did an excellent article in Take 5 some years ago which does work

I did replace the diaphragm valve which means that the regs got messed up. Can I get that article?

The matrix is in the car so i cannot tell if it is hot. I thought that the summer/ winter valve would have had lettering on it but i could not see any. Is it up or down for winter?
