17th May 2014. The run will start in Dornoch and go via the Falls of Shin, the Kyle of Sutherland, the North-West Highland Geopark and past Loch Assynt to a lunch stop at Lochinver. After lunch the return trip will go over the Kylesku Bridge and on to Lairg for afternoon tea, then on from Lairg via Bonar Bridge and Spinningdale back to Dornoch for a traditional Highland Ceilidh. Total distance is estimated at 170 miles with easy navigation, and with the open roads in the area the route should take no more than 5½ hours driving time. The run is being organised by the East Sutherland Rotary in aid of charities including the RNLI, and entrants are asked to gather sponsorship of up to £100 per car to help the organisers reach their target of £6,000. For more information please contact the organiser, David Lymburn, on 07780 682308 or by email at secretary@eastsutherlandrotary.org.

It sounds fantastic how I wish that I could be on that run, as my Wife and I took our caravan up to Grumore which is 4 miles from Lairg we went every year for 25 years and we know that part of Scotland as well as our own back garden, we have friends who live in Lairg on the road to Shin Falls we understand the visitor centre burnt down, the old cafe was just over the road and I think I am correct in saying that when it closed down it was set on fire and you can still see where it used to be, it is 620 miles up to Lairg from where we live a long drive with our van which took two Days but worth it how I envy you. Mind you I could put a towbar on the P5.
