hi guys and girls.
right im after a bit of help here. im after a p5b and have seen a few.
looked at one today and it looked nice BUT its had a re spray and the rust is coming back through again all over. the doors dont sit right ie big gap at the botton and small gap at the top next to the wing. the exhaust has broken at the back box so its going to need a compleate center and rear. The inside was very good it had the tray etc but the Igniction light was on all the time with the engine running but it has a battery voltage gauge reading 13volts???
now he wants a bit of money for this one so im not sure what to do so anyway help weill be great.

All depends on what you mean by a bit of money. If the rust is coming back after a respray to cure it you'll end up doing it all again, so why pay more cos its had a respray already? Door gaps are not easy to get right either especially if the pillars and sills have been welded to the same standard as the respray! Don't rush in because you'll have a lot of time to regret a bad decision.

Hi and welcome to the forum, you are in very good and expert hands! I have just read the buyers guide and I recommend you take a look at that as it will cover all the problems encountered with buying a P5b. The signs described by you of the car viewed are worrying. It does sound as if it has been recently cosmetically resprayed for a quick sale and is probably full of filler. The door gaps might be simply bad adjustment but a narrow gap at the top and a wider one at the bottom could mean that the car has sagged due to severe corrosion Electrics and exhaust are relatively minor problems. You need to look for the soundest car structurally with a decent interior that you can afford and take a knowledgeable friend......and a magnet to search out the steel If you are doubtful, walk away and take time to find a good car.
